The Catfish Hair Rig is a simple but highly effective rig.  There is no need to over complicate rigs with certain types of fishing.

Add some pellets, boilies, dead bait kebab, whatever you fancy.

Catfish are huge, eat loads and are easy to catch when they're on the feed.

You just need the hook and hooklink to be strong and just do it's thing, which is to catch hold and stay there.

Along with a running setup this will do the trick all day long.

Just remember to set your clutch or bait runner correctly as the takes will be savage.

Whether you use Korda Arma Kord or Catfish Pro Catlink, both are ultra strong and will stand up to any test.

Lead Setup - Running setups are best.
Terminated - The rig will have a loop with a figure of eight knot, or a grinner to a swivel if selected. Solid and strong.
Anti-Tangle - The stiff hooklink will aid in this but with a lot of weight on the rig, tangles very rarely happen anyway.
Strength - The hooklinks range from 50lb to 120lb.  More than enough to tame even the biggest catfish.
Savage bites - Don't forget to set your clutch / bait runner correctly as all your gear will end up in the lake otherwise.

Tips

If you want to popup or balance your baits then there are huge popups or foam balls available on the market that will allow you to do this with ease.  A favourite is to use a single 28mm pellet with a popup on top just like a snowman.  It sits upright on top of the hook and will nail cat after cat.  Simple but highly effective.
