The Pellet Rig has been around for decades and continues to catch plenty of carp to this day.  A highly effective all year round rig due to all carps love of everything pellet.  The added bonus is that these rigs can be used on the river as well as lakes.

The rig mechanics are simple and highly effective.  The bait is attached to a hair that is trapped to the hook shank in the optimal position with some silicone.  That will enable quick and solid hook holds once the rig is tightened to the lead.

A wide range or hookbaits can be used on the hair but we would recommend a sinking pellet to get the best out of the rig.  To ensure the pellets are kept from slipping up the hair and potentially causing the rig to not perform correctly, we've added a float stop as standard that can be pushed up under the bait and keep everything nice and tidy.

Fake baits can also be used to great effect so don't ignore them as they can be great in the right conditions.

Whatever your preference you can have confidence that this rig will do what's needed when you get them all important bites.

Tips

Always test your rig in the margin or a tub before casting out to ensure the rig is sitting as you want it to.  I always take a small tub and check my hookbaits in that as it's quicker and easier than doing in the edge.  Spending the extra few minutes will make all of the difference in catch rates.
